What this usually is on these models
An NCF unit that runs constantly and stays warm is working hard at something that is not cooling. A cabinet stable at the wrong temperature is being controlled correctly to the wrong number, so the checks below start outside the cabinet and move in.
What you observe
- A sheet of ice on the cold plate — Frost thick enough to feel as a layer, with the cabinet warm despite it.
- It recovers overnight and fails again by afternoon — A pattern that follows the room rather than the machine.
- Cabinet temperature is stable but higher than expected — Steady rather than drifting, which usually means the control is holding it there on purpose.
- NEAR MISS - freezes everything instead — Over-cooling is a control or setting question rather than a cooling failure, and the diagnosis runs the other way.
Ranked causes for these models
- A setting or mode that is not what the owner thinks — Ranked first on this line: an eco or energy-saving mode, a compartment set for chilling rather than freezing, or a setpoint nudged while the unit was being cleaned will all hold the cabinet warmer than expected. Nothing is faulty.
- A door or lid that is not sealing — It ranks where it does because it explains a warm cabinet and continuous running together, which is the exact combination most often reported.
- The condenser unable to shed heat — Then: this is the fault that arrives with the summer: the same clearance that coped in spring is not enough when the room is warm, and the unit crosses from just coping to not coping.
- A control or sensor reading the cabinet wrongly — Last, and the reason the order matters: if the control believes the cabinet is already cold, it will not call for cooling, and the unit sits quietly doing nothing while the contents warm. A silent unit with a lit panel is the picture.
What to check first, second, third
- Read the setting back and the temperature with it — Set the coldest setting for a few hours and watch. A cabinet that responds is being controlled, and the question becomes what it was set to.
- Test the seal at several points — Close the door on a strip of paper at the top, the middle and the bottom of each side and pull. Anywhere it slides out freely is a leak, and the coldest part of the cabinet will be furthest from it.
- Give the condenser air and a clean grille — Feel the machinery end while it runs: it should be warm. A unit running continuously with a cool condenser has a different problem from one running continuously with a hot one.

Safety
Switch off at the breaker or pull the plug before anything is opened, since a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Do not run the unit from a damaged lead or a loose socket while testing; a supply that sags under a compressor start also heats what it is running through.

When to call a technician
Call when the unit clicks or hums every few minutes without a sustained run and a different socket has already been ruled out, and call at once for a burning smell or a trip. Both patterns point past the owner checks.
