The short answer
A thermoelectric Aicook that is not cold is usually in a room that is too warm — it holds a margin below ambient rather than reaching a target. Move it somewhere cooler first. A stopped or blocked hot-side fan is second, siting with no clearance third, and a supply or module fault last.
What you observe
- It was cold in winter and is not in summer — The room moved; the margin did not.
- The outside of the cabinet is warm to the touch — Heat is being made but not carried away.
- No air movement at the rear vents — The hot-side fan has stopped or is blocked.
- The unit is pushed hard against a wall — It is recycling its own waste heat.
- NEAR MISS — warm after a large restock — Normal. This class recovers slowly.
Causes, most likely first on this class
- Room too warm for a fixed-margin cooler — First because this is how the technology works rather than a fault. The unit holds a set margin below ambient, so a warm room produces a warm cabinet and no setting will change it.
- Hot-side fan stopped or blocked — Second, and the one real fault that matters most: the module only cools while its hot side is being cleared. A stalled or dust-blocked fan stops the cooling almost entirely.
- Vents blocked by siting — Third, and it is the same problem from outside: a unit in a recess or hard against a wall recirculates its own waste heat, which raises the effective ambient still further.
- Supply or module fault — Last. An adapter that has failed or a module that has stopped working gives a unit no colder than the room, and at this price point replacement usually wins.
Check in this order, and why
- Measure the room and then the cabinet — The difference between them is the real answer.
- Feel for air moving at the rear vents — No movement names the fan straight away.
- Pull the unit clear of walls and recesses — Free, and it lowers the effective ambient.
- Check the adapter and lead for heat or damage — Left until here because the fan explains more.
What an owner can safely check
- Leave a thermometer inside and note the room too — Compare the two rather than judging the cabinet alone.
Tools: thermometerAbout 20 min
- Hold a hand or a tissue at the rear vents — There should be a clear flow of warm air leaving.
About 10 min
- Vacuum the vents and the grille behind them — Dust across the fan is the commonest real fault here.
Tools: vacuum, soft brushAbout 25 min
- Move the unit to the coolest available spot, clear all round — Then retest after a full day rather than an hour.
About 30 min
- STOP HERE if it is no colder than the room with the fan running — Module and supply faults are a replacement conversation.

Safety
Unplug the unit before removing a panel or clearing the vents; a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Never cover the vents or the adapter while the unit is working, and never run it from a long thin extension lead. Do not rely on a cooler of this kind to hold food at or below forty degrees Fahrenheit, which is four degrees Celsius, unless a thermometer proves it does.
When to call a technician
Call rarely, because on this class the arithmetic seldom favours repair. If the fan runs, the vents are clear, the room is cool and the cabinet is still no colder than the air around it, the module or the supply has failed and a replacement usually costs less than the visit. Stop using it and unplug it if the adapter or lead is hot.

What this page does not cover
This page is written for the brand and the appliance class, not for one family or model line. Where a family- or model-specific page exists for your unit, that page is the more specific answer and you should start there. Deliberately absent: cooling margins, ambient ratings, fan and module part identifiers and adapter specifications, all of which differ between the thermoelectric, compressor and vehicle-lead families.
