The short answer
A noisy portable Aglucky is usually a normal unit in an unforgiving position. Take it off a desk or shelf, stand it on something dense, and give it clear air. Frequent starting is second and is a consequence of a small box, not a fault. Rattling contents are third. A repeated click with no running is the one real fault here.
What you observe
- It is far louder on a desk than on the floor — The desktop is acting as a soundboard.
- It starts and stops every few minutes — A small box reaching its set point quickly.
- Contents shift and rattle as it runs — Little space and no shelf damping.
- A click every few seconds and no running — The compressor failing to start. A real fault.
- NEAR MISS — a gurgle after it switches off — Refrigerant settling. Normal.
Causes, most likely first on this class
- Standing on a desk, shelf or thin panel — First because these units are used at close quarters on exactly the surfaces that amplify best. A thin desktop radiates compressor vibration far better than the cabinet ever could.
- Frequent cycling in a small compartment — Second, and not a fault: a small box has little to hold its cold, so it satisfies quickly and restarts soon. Every door opening shortens the interval again.
- Contents rattling with nothing to damp them — Third, and free to prove: repack the box and listen again. In a compartment this small there is nothing to absorb a can shifting against a wall.
- Compressor failing to start, or a fan fault — Last, and the only real fault. A repeated click with no run comes with a unit that is not cold, which distinguishes it from everything above.
Check in this order, and why
- Establish whether it is running or only clicking — Clicking moves this from a nuisance to a fault.
- Move it off the desk onto a solid floor — Free, and it settles most complaints on this class.
- Note how often it starts and stops — Frequent cycling is expected in a small box.
- Repack the contents and listen again — Left until here because it only explains rattles.
What an owner can safely check
- Move the unit onto a solid floor and run it — If the noise drops sharply, the surface was the problem.
About 30 min
- Stand it on a dense mat wherever it has to live — The cheapest and most effective change on this class.
Tools: rubber matAbout 15 min
- Pull it clear of walls and anything it touches — Contact anywhere sends vibration into the furniture.
About 15 min
- Repack so nothing can shift as it runs — Then listen again from the same place.
About 15 min
- STOP HERE if it clicks repeatedly and will not run — Compressor and relay work is a service call.
Before you open anything
Safety
Disconnect the unit from every supply before opening any panel; a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off, and a dual-voltage cooler can be fed from a socket and a vehicle lead at once. Never cover the adapter or stand the unit on soft furnishings that block its vents. Never open a sealed refrigerant line to chase a noise.
When to call a technician
Call when the unit is on a solid damped surface, clear of everything, the contents are packed and a mechanical noise remains — a fan or the compressor is then the answer. Call sooner for a repeated click with no running, because the unit will not be cold either. At this price point ask for the repair cost against a replacement.

What this page does not cover
This page is written for the brand and the appliance class, not for one family or model line. Where a family- or model-specific page exists for your unit, that page is the more specific answer and you should start there. Deliberately absent: clearance dimensions, compressor and fan part identifiers, adapter ratings and fault-code meanings, all of which differ between the mains-only, dual-voltage and vehicle-only families.
