The short answer

Causes, most likely first on the VX family

Before you open anything
Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel — a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Water and a powered appliance together are the hazard here: switch the machine off at the breaker before you kneel in a wet area or reach behind the cabinet, and dry the floor first. Close the water shut-off valve before undoing any fitting, and never stand a cabinet back on a wet floor covering that has started to lift.
