The short answer
On an Absocold ABT refrigerator, water is appearing where it should not, and on a refrigerator almost every path leads back to the defrost drain rather than to the water line. What you observe
- A puddle on the floor at the front of the cabinet — Water that has cleared the door line has usually travelled along the floor of the liner, which means it entered the cabinet somewhere higher.
- Ice building in a slab on the freezer floor — Condensate freezing before it reaches the drain.
- Water down the inside of the rear wall — A drain that is clear but overwhelmed, or a door left ajar long enough to load the compartment with humid air.
- Wet patches only after a hot or humid day — Ambient-driven condensation on a marginal seal or an over-loaded drain, which is why it comes and goes.
- NEAR MISS — water only in the ice bucket, nowhere else — That is an ice-maker fill or dispenser-chute fault, and the drain ranking below will send you the wrong way.
Causes, most likely first on the ABT models
- The ice maker fill tube or its chute icing and overflowing — Produces water at the freezer door line and in the bucket, and can imitate a drain fault from the front.
- An installation opening that has changed around the appliance — With one model and no variants, the differences between two units in the field are entirely differences of installation — the opening, the surround and the room have changed even though the cabinet has not.
- A blocked or frozen defrost drain — Ranked first on almost every cabinet: every refrigerator makes condensate continuously and the drain is a narrow path that silt and food debris close over time.
- A blocked or displaced evaporation pan underneath the cabinet — The pan is supposed to evaporate what the drain delivers; once it is full or knocked askew, everything it holds ends up on the floor.
- A cracked liner or a failed seam behind the drawers — Ranked last because it is rare and because every cause above must be excluded before it is worth believing.

Check in this order, and why
- Inspect the supply line and its fittings at the back with a dry paper towel — Clean water at the back with a dry cabinet inside changes the diagnosis completely.
- Compare the opening the unit sits in against the clearance it needs — On a single-model family the install is the only variable left, so it is where the diagnosis starts rather than ends.
- Do the paper test around the whole door seal, corners included — A seal that fails only at one corner still loads the drain continuously.
- Find the lowest wet point and work upward from it — Water travels down and forward, so the puddle tells you nothing until you know where the highest wet surface is.
- Only then look for a cracked trough or liner behind the drawers — It needs the drawers and often the rear panel out, so it is last for access reasons as well as likelihood.

Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel — a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Water on a floor beside an appliance on a live circuit is a shock hazard: dry the floor before you kneel on it, and never work on the unit standing in a puddle.
