Answer first
On a Winia refrigerator, leaking water usually comes down to blocked or frozen defrost drain, with the supply line, its fitting or the inlet valve next. Work out where the water appears first, because that single observation removes half the list before you touch anything.
What you actually observe
- Water on the floor in front of the cabinet — It appears overnight, or a few hours after the door was last opened.
- Water under the crisper drawers, or ice across the freezer floor

Causes, most likely first on this platform
- Blocked or frozen defrost drain — First on a full-size electronic platform, because the defrost cycle runs often enough to produce real volumes of meltwater and the drain is the only route it has.
- The supply line, its fitting or the inlet valve — Second. This cabinet is plumbed, and a weeping compression fitting behind it puts water at the back wall long before it puts any at the front.
- An ice maker overfilling or its fill tube frosted — Third: a fill that misses the mould freezes on the freezer floor and thaws out through the door gap, which presents as a leak with no wet part anywhere near it.
- A door gasket that no longer seals — Fourth, and last because the control here closes the cabinet down hard enough that a marginal gasket shows as frost before it shows as water.
Check in this order, and why that order
- Empty the freezer floor and look for a sheet of ice over the drain trough — Ice at the back of the freezer floor confirms the drain before anything is taken apart. It goes first: top-ranked above, and free to rule out.
- Look at the supply fitting and the valve at the back of the cabinet — A weep here puts water at the back wall, which is a different puddle from the one a drain makes. Second: the next cause in the ranking, and this check separates it from the first.
- Look at the freezer floor under the ice maker for a sheet of ice — Ice that has built up outside the mould means water is missing it on every fill. Third, once both checks above come back clean.
What an owner can safely check
- Clear the freezer, shut the door and let the cabinet stand unpowered until the ice is gone — No tools beyond towels. If the leak stops for a week afterwards and then returns, the drain is the fault and it needs clearing properly.

Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel; a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Leave the door switch wired as it is and do not defeat it to watch something run. If you find oil outside the tubing, stop: the sealed system is open, and refrigerant work is licensed work.
Where an owner check ends
Call once the drain, the seal and the pan are all clear and water is still arriving, because what is left is behind a panel. Call straight away if water is reaching the compressor compartment or the unit trips a breaker, and stop using it until it has been looked at.
