The usual answer on this unit is no power at the socket, with a door not latching, or a marginal interlock next. - A door not latching, or a marginal interlock — The oven will not run until the interlock chain confirms the door. Second: it is the safety chain every cycle depends on and a mechanical part used several times a day, which makes it the commonest reason a microwave refuses.
- Child lock or demo mode set — A lock symbol on the display, or a shop demonstration mode left on, gives an oven that lights up, accepts nothing and looks broken. Third, once the two above are clean: it is the only cause here that is not a fault, and it costs nothing to rule out before anything else.
- An internal fuse or interlock switch failed — A blown internal fuse, often taken out by a failing interlock switch, leaves a completely dead oven. Last, and that is the point of this order: it is the only cause that requires opening the oven, and opening a microwave is the one thing this page will not ask you to do.
Check in this order, and why
- Test the socket with a lamp or a phone charger — A dead socket is the answer far more often than a dead oven.
- Close the door firmly and listen for the latch — If it starts only when pressed hard, that is the interlock and it is a stop-using-it finding.
- Look for a lock or demo indicator on the display — Both are set by accident and cleared in seconds.

- Check the breaker, then test the socket with something else and reseat the plug firmly — Do not use an extension lead with a microwave.

Do not tape, bend or defeat a door interlock, do not run it empty, and do not use it at all with a damaged door, latch, seal or window.
The line between a fix and a service call
Call, or price a replacement, once the socket is confirmed live, the door latches properly, no lock or demo mode is set and the vents are clear, because what is left is inside the cabinet. Stop using the oven now if it starts only when the door is pressed hard.
