What you actually observe

Causes, most likely first on this build
- Something against the condenser fan blade — The condenser fan runs in the dirtiest part of the unit. A leaf, a wrapper or a build-up of lint against the blade gives a regular ticking or scraping that follows the compressor exactly. Ranked first on a Vertex: a glass door is a thermal hole with a gasket around it, and everything about how this cabinet holds temperature runs through that door.
- The evaporator fan blade striking frost — When frost builds where it should not, the fan blade eventually reaches it. Second here, because a merchandiser is opened many times more often than a kitchen fridge, so it lives near the top of its duty cycle and has no reserve to give.
