What you actually observe

- NEAR MISS: foam rather than water on the floor — That is a detergent dose problem, not a leak.
Causes, most likely first on this build
- Fill hose washers or couplings — The inlet hoses are under mains pressure whenever the taps are open, and the rubber washers inside their couplings harden with age. A weep there runs down the hose and appears at the back of the machine. Ranked first on an Upstreman: a compact cabinet with a manual-defrost chill box collects ice quietly for weeks before the owner notices the warmth.
- The drain hose connection — The drain hose is clamped at the machine and pushed into a standpipe or a sink spigot at the other end. Second here, because these units are placed on a desk, a shelf or a carpet rather than installed, so clearance and level are wrong far more often than a part is.
- A torn or fouled door seal — A front loader seals against a rubber boot that traps coins, hair and grit in its fold. Third, once the two above are clean: it costs nothing to rule out and it decides whether anything needs to come apart at all.
- A weeping pump or hose clamp inside — The internal hoses are clamped rather than threaded, and a clamp that has relaxed weeps only while the pump is running. Last, and the reason the order above matters: it is the rarest cause on a small sealed system and the only one an owner cannot touch, so it belongs at the bottom of the list.
Check in this order, and why
- Dry the couplings at the taps and look again after a few minutes — Mains-pressure weeps show quickly once the area is dry.
- Watch the drain hose ends while the machine pumps — The leak only appears during the drain step.
- Fold back the door seal and clear what is in it — Grit and coins in the fold hold the door open.

- Check how the machine stands and what it is standing on before anything else — A compact machine on a flat floor behaves; the same machine on an uneven one produces most of the complaints on this list.

Switch the machine off at its breaker or unplug it, and shut both taps, before opening any panel or filter. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off.
When to call a technician
Call when the hoses, the seal, the dispenser and the detergent dose are all accounted for and water is still reaching the floor, or as soon as the water appears to come from under the tub rather than from a connection. Stop using the machine in the meantime: water beside a powered appliance is the real hazard here.
