The short answer
Start from the machine out of level in its cut-out: on a ThortKitchen dishwasher that is the likeliest explanation for what you are looking at, and a failed pump seal or a cracked sump is the least likely. Most of this you can settle before anyone is called.
What the symptom looks like
- A wet patch under the machine that appears after a cycle — Coming from the sump, the pump or a hose connection rather than from the door.
- Water only when the machine is drained — That ties the leak to the drain hose and its connection, not to the fill side.
- NEAR MISS: condensation at the vent on a hot cycle — Normal. Steam escapes by design on many machines.
Causes, most likely first on this build
- The machine out of level in its cut-out — Tilted forward, the water line in the base sits against the door rather than below it, and it leaks on every fill. First here, for a reason specific to ThortKitchen: clearance and levelling are set once in the cut-out and never revisited, so airflow is the standing risk.
- A tall item deflecting water at the door — A baking tray in the front row turns the spray straight at the door and beats the seal on pressure alone. Next, and relatedly: how it is loaded is the one variable that changes every single cycle.
- A dirty or hardened door seal — The gasket seals on a thin lip. Food residue on it, or rubber that has gone hard, opens a path at the bottom corners. Third: a seal fails gradually, so the symptom arrives long after the seal stopped being good.
- A failed pump seal or a cracked sump — Water arrives under the machine with nothing visibly wrong above it, and it only appears while the pump runs. Last, and the order is the point: a pump either moves water or it does not, and a partly working one is the hardest version to spot.

- Check the machine is level side to side and sits very slightly back — An install fault reads as a seal fault from the front.
- Look at what was in the front row of the bottom rack — A machine that leaks only on certain loads has already told you the answer.
- Run a finger right around the seal and look at the bottom corners — Residue and a flattened corner are both visible and both fixable.

- Level the machine in its cut-out and check the door closes square against the frame — A machine that has been pulled out and pushed back is often left tilted.

Safety first, and it is not a formality
Safety
Switch the machine off at its breaker or unplug it before removing the kick plate or any panel, and shut the supply off at the stop tap. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Never defeat the door latch to watch a cycle run: it holds hot water and a spray arm behind it. Water and a live terminal in the same cabinet is the one combination worth being careful about.
When to call a technician
Call when the seal is clean, the loading is sensible, the machine is level and it still leaks, or as soon as you find water reaching a socket or the cabinet floor. Isolate the power at the breaker before taking the kick plate off, and shut the supply tap before disturbing any connection.
