The short answer
On a Temprium refrigerator, an ice maker that has stopped or slowed most often traces back to the water inlet valve rather than to where the unit stands and what is behind it. Ask whether yours has a hand-width of air behind it and whether its hookup was made for permanent use. The first 2 checks need no tools and no panel off, and the point where owner work stops is marked below.
What this looks like
- The mould is full and nothing is ejected — A full mould of good ice is a harvest problem, not a fill problem.
- The bin is empty and the machine is otherwise normal — Cooling is fine, the light works, and only the ice has stopped.
- NEAR MISS — water is pooling under the machine — That is a leak or a blocked defrost drain, and it is a different page. Go there first.
Causes, most likely first on Temprium
- The water inlet valve — The valve is the electrical end of the water path and it fails in a particular way: it passes less each year as its screen silts up, so the fault arrives gradually rather than all at once. Ranked first on Temprium: it explains more of these calls than anything below, and it is the cheapest to exclude.
- The water supply line and its shutoff — The feed is ranked here because it is the only part of the ice system an owner can inspect end to end. Ranked second — less common than the cause above, and the one most often mistaken for something expensive.
- A frozen fill tube — When a fill overshoots slightly, the excess freezes in the short tube that feeds the mould and each later fill adds to the plug. Ranked third because it needs the two above cleared before any reading from it can be trusted.
- Where the unit stands and what is behind it — A compact unit is put where there is room, which is usually a niche with no air behind it. Placed here for what kind of machine this is rather than for a part: clearance and the hookup sit here rather than at the top, and they are still the reason a repaired machine fails again.
Check in this order, and why
- First: Listen for the fill buzz at the back of the machine — The valve explains more of these calls than anything below, and it is the cheapest to exclude.
- Second: Trace the water line from the tap to the back of the machine — Second because it is the cheapest check that can end the diagnosis, and it rules out the whole water path at once.
- Third: Look into the fill tube at the back of the freezer compartment — Last in the order because a clear line with no ice arriving points straight at the last short run of tube.
Owner-side checks, step by step
- Trace the supply line and open the shutoff fully — Follow the line from the tap to the machine, straighten any kink, and turn the shutoff fully open rather than part-way.

- Thaw the fill tube with a warm cloth or a hair dryer on low — Work from outside the tube, never inside it, and keep the heat moving. Dry the area afterwards.

- STOP HERE if the next step needs a meter on live terminals — Everything past this point needs test equipment and an appliance that is open. Call from here.

Safety
Isolate the machine at the wall or the breaker before a panel comes off. Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Leave the sealed system alone — refrigerant is licensed work — and never wedge a door switch to keep a fan turning while you look.
When this becomes a service call
Stop at the first step needing a meter on live terminals, and call from there. Anything on the sealed system — refrigerant, the compressor, the tubing — is licensed work, and a machine that has been opened is a machine that needs a technician. Call sooner if the fault is getting worse rather than staying the same, because a cheap cause left alone is how an expensive one arrives.

What is deliberately not on this page
What this page does not do is speak for one family or one model. It covers Temprium refrigerators generally, and no family-specific page exists for it yet to send you to — when one is published, this page will link down to it and defer to it. Also absent by choice: part numbers, wiring detail and dismantling order.
