The short answer
Start from something in the drum or in a pocket: on a Techomey dryer that is the likeliest explanation for what you are looking at, and a failing blower wheel or motor bearing is the least likely. Most of this you can settle before anyone is called.
What the symptom looks like
- A squeal or chirp that rises with the drum — Rollers or an idler pulley running dry.
- A metallic rattle or scrape — Something in the drum, or the drum touching the bulkhead.
- NEAR MISS: the drum will not turn — A belt fault rather than a noise fault.
Causes, most likely first on this build
- Something in the drum or in a pocket — A coin, a zip or a stud makes exactly the metallic rattle people report as a failing bearing. It leads on Techomey: the cavity is small, so how it is loaded changes the result far more than in a full-size machine.
- The machine out of level or touching something — A dryer on uneven feet walks and drums against the wall, the washer beside it or the vent duct behind it. Second, because a compact unit is carried in and set down, never really installed, and nobody re-checks it once it is loaded.
- A loose or rattling vent duct — Flexible ducting resonates against the cabinet and sounds like a fault inside the machine. Third: a garage or an RV gives a unit dust, heat and an improvised supply, and all three arrive at once.
- A failing blower wheel or motor bearing — A grind or a scrape from the motor end that grows steadily rather than appearing overnight. Last, and the order is the point: a motor is a wear part with bearings and windings, and both give warning before they stop.

- Empty the drum completely and turn it by hand — It costs nothing and it is the most common answer.
- Rock each corner and check the clearance behind — Free to check and free to fix.
- Put a hand on the duct while it runs — A noise that stops under your hand is the duct, not the dryer.

Safety first, and it is not a formality
Safety
Unplug the dryer or switch it off at its breaker before removing any panel, and shut the gas cock on a gas dryer. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Clear the lint filter every load: lint is the fuel in a dryer fire and the vent is where it collects. If you smell gas, leave the building and call the gas utility or 911 from outside, without switching anything on or off.
When this stops being a do-it-yourself job
Call when the drum is empty, the machine is level, the duct is secure and the noise is still there, or as soon as a grind grows week on week. Stop immediately and unplug it for a burning smell or a hot cabinet: a dryer that is overheating does not need a second opinion first.
