What it usually turns out to be, in order
- A delay start, a child lock or a demo mode — The machine is doing exactly what it was told and the instruction was set by accident. First on Taj because a board decides the behaviour rather than a switch, so a control fault reads as a machine declining to act.
- A latched control state — A control that stopped mid-cycle can sit waiting rather than restart, and it looks completely dead from outside. Second here: this generation puts the logic in a board, so the control outranks the mechanical causes that lead on older units.
- The water supply shut off — Many machines wait silently for a fill that never comes rather than reporting it, so it reads as a start fault. Third on this build, because a tap-connected portable makes its supply and its drain the two least permanent things about it.
- A failed door switch, thermal fuse or control board — The door is closed and the machine still does not see it, or the board has lost its supply internally. Last, and the order is the point: the control decides what the machine does, so a control fault looks like a machine that has simply stopped caring.

- Look for a delay, lock or demo indicator on the panel — Free to check and genuinely common.
- Switch the machine off at the breaker for a few minutes and back on — A reset separates a latched state from a failed board.
- Check the supply tap under the sink is fully open — Taps get closed during other work and left that way.

Switch the machine off at its breaker or unplug it before removing the kick plate or any panel, and shut the supply off at the stop tap. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Never defeat the door latch to watch a cycle run: it holds hot water and a spray arm behind it. Water and a live terminal in the same cabinet is the one combination worth being careful about.
Where the owner fix ends
Call when power is confirmed at the socket, the door latches properly, no lock or delay is set and the machine still does nothing. Call immediately and stop using it if the breaker trips as soon as you reset it: a circuit that trips on demand is reporting a fault, not being awkward.
