The short answer
Water around a NewAge Products refrigerator is usually the evaporation tray over the compressor overflowing, and it is almost never a hole in anything. The single most useful thing you can do is establish whether the water starts inside the cabinet or outside it, because that one observation splits the list below in half. These go into a masonry outdoor island, often within arm's reach of a grill, and the island stores heat long after the sun has gone.
What you observe
- Water on the floor at the front, usually in the morning — A puddle that returns after you wipe it is the pattern that matters.
- Water standing under the crisper or in the bottom of the cabinet — Inside water and outside water have different causes — note which you have.
- The outside of the cabinet is beaded with water — A cold skin in humid air sweats; that water reaches the floor and is easily mistaken for a leak.
- Ice forming in the bottom of the compartment instead of draining — The drain is blocked and the water freezes where it stands.
- NEAR MISS — water only after a power cut — That is thawed food and melted ice draining, which is expected and clears itself once the cabinet is cold again.
Causes, most likely first on this platform
- The evaporation tray over the compressor overflowing — High on an outdoor unit: the tray is sized to evaporate what a normal indoor duty cycle produces, and an island installation in humid weather produces far more than that while the compartment ventilation that would evaporate it is often blocked. In a masonry island beside a grill the surroundings stay hot long after the cooking stops, so this cause is the default explanation here rather than an occasional one.
- A blocked defrost drain backing up into the cabinet — Ranked at or near the top for this platform: every defrost sends melt water down a drain hole to a tray below, and that hole silts up with food debris or freezes shut.
- Humid air pulled past a tired gasket and condensing inside — Warm, humid air entering past a gasket that no longer seals condenses on the first cold surface it touches.
Check in this order, and why
- First: look under the cabinet at the evaporation tray — Checked after the drain because an overflowing tray is usually the drain working exactly as designed into a tray that cannot keep up. In a masonry island it is the first thing to establish, because the island itself is part of the problem.
- Second: look for standing water or ice in the bottom of the compartment — It tests the top-ranked cause without tools: water that sits inside is water that is not reaching the drain.
- Third: dry the gasket, shut the door for an hour, then feel it again — A gasket that is wet again is telling you where the humid air is getting in, which is the top-ranked cause here.
What an owner can safely check
- Find the drain hole at the bottom of the cold wall and clear it — Warm water from a turkey baster and a soft flexible line. No wire, no pick — a punctured drain tube is a repair you cannot undo.
Tools: turkey baster, warm waterAbout 20 min
- Inspect the gasket along its whole length — Wash it, dry it and look for a section that stays flat when the door shuts. A gasket that is wet on the inside is telling you where the humid air is getting in.
Tools: warm soapy waterAbout 15 min
- Put a level on the top of the cabinet, front to back — It should sit dead level or lean very slightly back so water runs to the drain rather than out of the door.
Tools: spirit level, adjustable spannerAbout 15 min
- STOP HERE if reaching the tray means removing a rear panel — Behind that panel are live terminals and the sealed system. Stop and call.
Before you open anything
Safety
Unplug the refrigerator or switch off its breaker before removing any panel — a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Water and electricity are together in this appliance by design. Dry the floor before you work, never reach behind an energised cabinet, and stop at the first step that would put a meter on live terminals.
When to call a technician
Call if the water returns after the drain is clear and the cabinet is level, if you find water at the back near the compressor compartment, or if the drain tube has been damaged. Call immediately, before wiping anything, if water is reaching an outlet or a power lead.

What this page does not cover
This is a generalized page: one brand, one appliance, one symptom, and no assumption about which line you own. Specific pages beneath it cover individual families and models, and where one exists for your unit it is the better answer. Not covered here: service-manual procedures, electrical test values, part numbers and anything behind a panel.
