The short answer first
A Kucht refrigerator that runs without cooling is making cold and failing to deliver it, nine times in ten. On this cabinet look at dirty condenser coil or no clearance around the cabinet before anything else. The compressor is the last suspect on the list and by far the least likely one.
What you are seeing
- The compressor runs and never seems to shut off — A unit that cannot reach its setting never stops trying, so continuous running is a symptom rather than a habit.
- The cabinet is warm but the unit is clearly running — You can hear the compressor; the air inside is not cold. That combination is the whole diagnosis in one sentence.
- The outside of the cabinet feels warm near the hinges — Some warmth there is normal; noticeable heat with a warm interior points at heat that is not being rejected.
- NEAR MISS — the unit is completely silent and nothing is cold — Nothing running at all is a power, start-device or control fault, and it is a different page. Check the outlet and the breaker before anything else.
What goes wrong here, in order
- Dirty condenser coil or no clearance around the cabinet — The condenser is the part that gets dirty by design — it sits low or at the back, in the dustiest part of the room, and pulls room air through itself. Once it is clogged, everything downstream of it works harder for less cooling. It leads because this cabinet reaches it before it reaches anything else, and because the check needs no tools. This is built as a long-life appliance, which moves the consumables and the setup to the top of the list and the machinery to the bottom.
- Warm humid air getting in past the door — More doors are held open by their own contents than fail outright. A bottle proud of the shelf, a drawer not pushed home, or a tub on the top shelf is enough to leave a gap nobody sees. Second, and the last of the causes that a careful look will settle on its own.
- Iced-over evaporator coil starving the vents — Cold air is the delivery mechanism in a refrigerator, and the evaporator is where it is made. Ice over that coil does not stop the cold being produced; it stops it being moved, which is why the freezer can stay cold while the fresh-food side warms. Third in the order: less common than what precedes it, and more work to confirm.
- A leak or blockage in the sealed refrigeration circuit — It is also the only cause here where a wrong guess is expensive: condemning a sealed system that turns out to be a blocked drain or a dirty coil costs an appliance that had years left in it. Last: it accounts for the smallest share of these calls, and every check above it is quicker to make.
Work through it in this order
- Feel the air coming out at the base grille while it is running — Warm exhaust that has nowhere to go, or none at all, tells you which half of this cause you have. Start here — it is free, and it decides which half of the list you are in.
- Shut the door on a sheet of paper and pull, at several points around the frame — Paper that slides out freely anywhere shows you where the seal is leaking. Then this — it is the next cheapest thing that can be wrong.
- Take out the freezer drawer or baskets and look at the rear panel — Frost on the panel, or ice visible through its vents, is the answer. A light dusting is normal; a solid sheet is not. Third, and only if the two above found nothing.
The steps, with tools and times
- Vacuum the condenser coil and the fan grille, then restore the clearance — Give it the gap the manual asks for at the back and the sides before pushing it home again.
Tools: vacuum, soft brushAbout 25 min
- Unload the door shelves and repack so nothing holds the door open — Then watch the door close on its own from half open — it should pull itself shut.
About 15 min
- Clear the freezer vents and check the rear panel for a frost sheet — Unpack the freezer down to the back wall so the air paths are actually visible.
About 20 min
- STOP before testing anything electrical with the power on — The checks above are all done cold. A test that needs power applied is a technician test, whatever a video shows.
The part that is not optional
Safety
Unplug the refrigerator or switch off its breaker before removing any panel — a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Never chip ice off a coil or a liner with a knife or a screwdriver: the tubing behind it is thin, and puncturing it releases the charge and ends the life of the cabinet. Let ice melt on its own.
Where the owner fix ends
Call once the door, the vents, the coil and the clearance have all been checked and the cabinet still will not hold food cold. Call immediately if you smell burning, see oil around the compressor, or hear it try to start and stop repeatedly — a compressor short-cycling is damaging itself while you wait.

Scope of this page: Kucht refrigerators generally, not one family. Model-specific information — wiring colours, part numbers, resistance and torque figures — belongs on the page for that family, and where such a page exists it outranks this one.
