The short answer
On an Ivation refrigerator, an ice maker that has stopped producing is usually a freezer too warm to release ice rather than a failed ice-maker module. Second, and worth checking in the same hour, is a supply that is not delivering. The top of that list is owner work; only the last cause needs a technician.
What you are looking at
- Cubes sit frozen in the mold and never drop — The fill worked and the harvest did not.
- The bin is empty and stays empty — No cubes arrive over a full day with the maker switched on.
- Cubes are small, hollow or misshapen — The maker is cycling but the fill is short.
- NEAR MISS -- this cabinet has no plumbed maker at all — A manual tray or a portable box makes ice only as fast as the freezer pulls down, which is not a fault.
Causes, most likely first on this kind of unit
- The freezer is not cold enough to harvest — An ice maker will not release a harvest until the mold reaches its release temperature. First here, because on an Ivation specialty cabinet held at a narrow set point on this kind of cabinet the freezer is the marginal part, so temperature comes before any part swap.
- The supply is shut, throttled or the valve is not opening — A shutoff left part-closed after a move, a saddle valve barely cracked, or an inlet valve that is not opening gives too little water for a full harvest. This rank, because too little water means small, hollow or no cubes.
- The maker is switched off, or the bin is not seated — A bail arm resting on ice, a bin pushed in crooked, or an off switch left from a previous fill all stop production with nothing broken anywhere. This rank, because a maker that thinks the bin is full does exactly this.
- The maker module, mold heater or harvest motor — A module that will not cycle, a dead mold heater or a seized harvest motor leaves full cubes stuck in the mold. It comes last because it is the one cause here that is not an owner repair, so it is checked last.
Check in this order, and why
- Measure the freezer, not the fresh side — A freezer holds food safely at zero degrees Fahrenheit or below; above that, fix the cold first.
- Open the shutoff fully and check the line — Full-open the valve, then dispense water if the unit can; a weak stream points at the supply.
- Only after water and temperature are proven — Cubes frozen solid in the mold with a cold freezer and good fill is the signature -- and that is a service call.

- Lift the bail arm, clear and re-seat the bin — Then switch the maker on and note the time; a harvest takes hours, not minutes.
