The short answer
A new noise from a cabinet that is otherwise cooling: on an iSEASY refrigerator that is usually vibration through an unlevel cabinet, not a failing compressor. What you are looking at
- A knock that does not change with the door — It is heavy, metallic and regular.

Causes, most likely first on this kind of unit
- The cabinet is rocking on uneven feet — A cabinet that is not level transmits normal compressor vibration into the floor and into itself. First here, because on an iSEASY portable unit used away from a fixed kitchen weight and a hard floor turn a small imbalance into a noise you can hear in the next room.
- The evaporator fan is striking frost or ice — A fan blade clipping a frost ridge makes a rhythmic ticking or a harsh warble that changes when the door opens and the fan stops. This rank, because a noise that stops the moment the door opens is the fan, and ice is what it is hitting.
- The condenser fan is fouled — The fan by the compressor pulls room air across the coil. This rank, because a fouled blade is audible from underneath and stops when the compressor cycles off.
- The compressor mounts or the compressor itself — Hardened rubber grommets let the compressor knock against its frame; internal wear gives a heavy metallic knock that does not change with the door. Bottom of the list, deliberately: it is last because every cheaper sound above has to be eliminated first.

- Open the door and listen for the noise to stop — A noise that dies with the door open is fan-related; then look for a frost ridge.
