The short answer
Start here -- on an IPSO washer, a cycle that stalls, repeats or ends early points first at a blocked drain path, not at a failed main control. If that is clean, a slow or single-sided fill is next. Work the order below -- cheap causes first, the one that is not an owner fix last.
What you are looking at
- It ends early and the load is barely wet — The machine reports finished without completing the wash.
- The cycle restarts itself — It returns to an earlier step during spin.
- The cycle stops at the same point every time — Always the same step, always with water in the tub.
- NEAR MISS -- it will not begin at all — That is a start fault and belongs on the will-not-start page.
Causes, most likely first on this kind of unit
- It cannot drain, so it cannot advance — No machine advances out of a wash step with water in the tub. Top of the list on a commercial-duty machine -- on an IPSO commercial machine running cycle after cycle, the pump collects everything the drum loses, and a stall at the same step is its signature.
- One tap is closed or the fill is slow — A machine that fills on time will not advance if one side delivers nothing. Placed here: a slow fill stretches or stalls every step that follows it.
- The load will not balance — A machine that cannot balance a load retries rather than spinning. Placed here: a machine retrying a balance is working correctly and simply cannot finish.
- The main control or a cycle sensor — A failed temperature sensor, a burned relay or a control that no longer sequences correctly needs a meter and a service manual. Bottom of the list, deliberately: it is the one cause here that is not an owner repair, so it is last.
Check in this order, and why
- Note whether it always stalls at the same step — Power off, open the filter, and clear the impeller; a stall at the same minute is a drain problem.
- Full-open both taps and time the fill — Open hot and cold fully, then listen: a weak stream on one side names the tap or its screen.
- Only after load, drain and taps are proven — A machine that stalls at a different point every time, with everything above clean, is a service call.

- Note the step and the minute it stops — Write it down for two runs; a repeatable point is a mechanical cause, a random one is not.
