The short answer
On an Invision washer, a machine that will not begin a cycle is usually a closed or throttled supply tap rather than a failed motor control board. If that is clean, a lid lock that is not reporting closed is next. Work the order below -- cheap causes first, the one that is not an owner fix last.
What you are looking at
- The panel lights but the cycle never begins — It accepts the selection and then simply waits.
- It clicks once and stops — A single relay click with no fill and no drum movement.
- It starts one time in three — The same cycle works intermittently with no pattern.
- NEAR MISS -- it hums but the drum does not move — That is a drive fault rather than a start fault.
Causes, most likely first on this kind of unit
- A supply tap is closed or throttled — Many machines will not advance out of fill, so a closed hot or cold tap reads as a machine that will not start. First here, because on an Invision compact machine wheeled to a sink rather than plumbed in taps get closed after a move or a leak scare and nobody opens them again.
- The lid lock or door latch is not engaging — No machine will run with the lid or door unlocked. Ranked here because a machine that thinks the door is open will wait forever with the panel alive.
- The supply is not reaching the machine — A tripped breaker, a dead outlet, or a cord unseated when the machine was pushed back leaves nothing on the panel. Placed here: no supply is the simplest explanation for a machine that does nothing at all.
- The motor control or main board — A failed motor control, a burned relay or a board that will not drive the motor needs a meter on live terminals to diagnose. It comes last because it is the one cause here that is not an owner repair, so it is checked last.
Check in this order, and why
- Open both taps fully and listen for fill — Full-open hot and cold, then start a cycle and listen for water entering.
- Listen for the lock to click and hold — Close it firmly and listen; no click, or a click that releases, names the lock.
- Only after supply, lock and taps are proven — A machine with power, a locked door, open taps and a clear control that still does nothing is a service call.
What an owner can safely check
- Prove the outlet and reseat the cord — Test the outlet with a known-good appliance, then push the plug fully home.
Tools: known-good lampAbout 10 min
- Full-open both taps and start a cycle — Listen for water entering within the first minute.
About 5 min
- Close the lid or door firmly and listen for the lock — A clean click that holds is what the control is waiting for.
About 5 min
- STOP HERE -- the next step needs a meter on live terminals — Boards, switches and motor circuits are technician work.
Before you open anything
Safety
Unplug the washer or switch off its breaker before opening any panel, and shut both supply taps before touching a hose.
When to call a technician
Call once the filter, the hoses, the taps and the load itself are ruled out.

What this page does not cover
This page covers the Invision washer as a class, not one family or model line. Where a family- or model-specific page exists for your unit it is the more specific answer -- go there first if your model is named. Deliberately not here: wiring colours, board part numbers, service-mode entry and the exact panel-removal order, all of which differ by family.
