Kenmore Dryer Error Codes — Complete Error Code Diagnosis Guide

Nine Kenmore dryer codes are covered, and two of them say the same thing twice: AF and F30 are both restricted airflow, one detected at the sensor and one at the vent run. F22 and F23 are the exhaust thermistor open and shorted. F28 is the moisture sensor, whose bars get coated with fabric-softener film until they stop reading a dry load. F26 is the drive motor, F31 is low voltage on one leg of the 240-volt supply, F01 is a control board memory failure, and F70 is the console losing contact with the main board.

Because two codes describe the same restriction, the guides treat the vent as the first repair rather than a preliminary — lint screen, duct run, the crushed transition behind the cabinet — and only then look at parts. F28 is a cleaning job before it is a sensor: softener residue on the bars explains far more early shut-offs than a failed part. F31 sends a reader outward to the breaker and the outlet, and F70 starts at the ribbon between console and main board, which works loose from vibration.

The heat side of a dryer is where the DIY boundary sits. A gas model keeps a supply line, valve coils and an igniter behind the same panel as the blower; an electric one runs 240 volts to the element and terminal block, which is also what F31 is complaining about.
