The short answer
The Comfee EM platform is a compact, high-draw appliance, and that combination sets the priorities here. There is no owner-level electrical test worth the risk of opening it. A standard US household branch circuit is 15 A or 20 A at 120 V, and a microwave really wants one to itself.
What the owner sees and hears
- Visible smoke from the vents — Keep the door shut, stop the cycle and cut the power at the breaker if the plug is not safely reachable.
- Plugged into a power strip — Free to fix and often the whole cause of a trip.
- The complaint began after a surge — Surges do damage high-voltage components and control boards.
- Arcing during a cycle — Arcing with a clean, empty cavity and an intact cover is a call.
- The clock resets mid-cycle — Persistent resetting on a dedicated circuit is a call.
- NEAR MISS — uneven heating — Spills dry in the track and stop the rotation.

- A metallic item arcing — A rimmed plate or a twist tie produces exactly the flashes described.
- Waveguide cover burnt or holed — The cover takes the splashes, and a holed one keeps arcing.

- Wiring at the wall — It belongs here because a hot plug or a scorched outlet is often not the microwave at all.

- Inspect the waveguide cover on the cavity wall — It is visible with the door open and needs no tools.
- Try another circuit — Free, and often the whole answer to a trip.
Before you open anything
Safety
On a microwave that charge can be lethal and it persists long after the plug is out — there is no owner-level test inside it. The machine does not go back into use afterwards without assessment. Stop using the machine at once for any electrical odour — it means a component is failing under load.
