- Find the drain hole and check whether it is clear — Do not force anything down it: a stiff wire finds the tubing.
- Put a level across the front and along the side — Second because it is free and instant and it decides whether backed-up water reaches the floor.
- Pull the unit out and look at the evaporation tray — Only needed once the inside checks are clean, because the tray leaks behind, not in front.
