What you can observe on these models
- The filter head area is wet after a cartridge change — An o-ring that did not seat, or a cartridge that does not match the head, both weep under supply pressure.
- Water pooling under the crisper drawers — The classic blocked defrost drain: meltwater backs up in the trough and spills forward into the cabinet floor instead of leaving through the drain.
- A thin sheet of ice under the drawers or at the freezer floor — The same blockage caught earlier. The trough refreezes between cycles and the sheet grows with each defrost.
- A puddle across the floor at the front of the unit — Cabinet water that has overflowed forward, or a door that is not sealing and is condensing on the frame.
- NEAR MISS — water only in the ice bin — A wet bin with normal temperatures is an ice-maker fill or harvest problem and belongs on that page.
Causes, most likely first on this family
- Supply-side leak at the inlet valve, line or filter head — First when the puddle grows whether the unit is running or not: only a pressurised line does that, and only it can flood a floor overnight.
- Blocked defrost drain backing up into the cabinet — Second, and the cause to assume the moment the water is inside the cabinet rather than only on the floor.
- Drain pan displaced by a move or cracked by age — Third: pulling the unit out for any other check reveals it, so it costs nothing extra to rule out at that point.
- Ice maker fill overshoot — Fourth, and it usually arrives alongside an ice-production complaint rather than alone.
- Gasket, door alignment or an unlevel cabinet — Last: condensation at the door is a heat-load symptom. It is real, but it damps a frame rather than wetting a floor.
Check in this order, and why
- Empty the ice bin and look under it — A frozen sheet under the bin means fill overshoot, which is a different repair from a blocked drain even though both end as water.
- Clear and flush the defrost drain — Do this even if another cause is found — a partly blocked drain is what turns any small amount of water into a visible leak.
- Run a tissue along the door gasket — Damp along the seal line with a dry cabinet floor moves the whole diagnosis to condensation and door alignment.
- Inspect the drain pan with the unit pulled out — Cracks show as a dry pan with a wet floor beneath it, which is the one pattern that cannot come from anywhere else.

Close the water shutoff and power the unit down before touching the inlet valve, the filter head or any fitting; a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. The line stays pressurised until it is bled, so open fittings into a towel. Dry the floor before moving the cabinet — a wet floor under a loaded refrigerator is how people get hurt moving one.
