- Pull the unit out and feel the condenser — Heavy dust, or a condenser fan that is not turning, caps the capacity no matter how healthy the rest is.

Kill the power at the plug or the breaker first; a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Pulling one of these cabinets out to reach the condenser is a two-person move on a hard floor and a slow one on tile — walk it straight out, keep the water line slack in view, and never let the cabinet tip back.
