1. Inlet valve stuck open (45% of cases)#
The inlet valve is normally closed and only opens when the control energizes it to fill, but scale and grit on the valve seat can hold it partly open so water trickles into the drum even with the washer off. Confirm it by closing the hot and cold supply valves — if the filling stops, the valve is leaking through and needs replacing rather than any electronic part. Do not run the washer again until the valve is replaced, since the failure will recur and can overflow.
2. Drain siphoning (30% of cases)#
What looks like the washer filling can actually be water siphoning backward: if the drain hose is pushed too far down the standpipe, it forms a seal and siphons water back into the drum. The fix is placement, not parts — pull the drain hose so it sits no more than about 6 inches into the standpipe, and make sure the standpipe height and the hose's high loop meet Bosch's installation spec.
