The short answer
A BLWM washer that stalls mid-cycle or never finishes is usually stuck at a step it cannot complete rather than suffering a control failure. On this build the machine will not advance past drain or spin until it is satisfied, so those two steps come first in the order.
What you observe
- Stops with water in the drum — The machine is waiting on a drain it cannot complete; treat it as a drainage fault.
- Fills forever or very slowly — A supply question: taps part closed or blocked inlet screens.
- The machine pauses for long periods mid-cycle — A soak or a balance retry, both normal in themselves, but repeated retries are not.
- It finishes but the load is soaking wet — The spin never completed, which is a balance or a drain fault rather than a cycle fault.
- NEAR MISS - nothing happens at all when start is pressed — That is a no-start fault and belongs on the start page.
Causes, most likely first on BLWM
- Drain restricted so the cycle cannot advance — Ranked first on the BLWM family: the control on this build will not move past drain until the level falls, so a partly blocked filter stalls a whole cycle without any other symptom. The table above is one platform, so a weakness in the drain path appears on every code in it. What moves against the brand-generic order is lower down: load balance and levelling sits above door lock not confirming here, because this family is a single build with fixed access points.
- Fill restricted: taps, hoses or inlet screens — Second: the machine fills to a level rather than a time, so a slow supply stretches the cycle and can stall it entirely.
- Load balance and levelling — Third: a front loader retries a spin it cannot balance rather than risking the suspension, which reads to the owner as a hung cycle.
- Door lock not confirming — Fourth: the lock has to report closed before the cycle runs, so an intermittent lock gives a cycle that starts and stops.
- Control board or the cycle selector — Last: last, because almost every stalled cycle on this family resolves to drain, fill or balance before the board is reached.
Check in this order, and why
- Note which step the cycle stops at — Drain, fill and spin each point somewhere different, and this costs nothing.
- Run a spin-only or drain-only programme — It isolates the step that is failing without running a whole wash.
- Reduce the detergent dose and repeat — Excess suds genuinely stall cycles, and this test costs nothing.
- Redistribute the load and run a spin alone — Last, and it settles whether the machine is simply refusing to spin an unbalanced load.

Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. A locked door with water behind it is released by draining through the filter hatch, which is exactly what that hatch is for. Shut both taps before touching any hose.
When to call a technician
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Taps, screens, filter and load are owner work. Call when the machine stalls with all of those proven good.
