The answer first
The Artt RTCF refrigerator family covers four listings in the roster below, and on that platform a cabinet that runs without getting cold is usually a delivery problem rather than a sealed-system one. Of the things that stop a refrigerator cooling, the two most common cost a part that fits in a pocket and the least common costs more than many machines are worth. Airflow, the door and the condenser account for most of it; the compressor is blamed far more often than it fails.
The observables
- Both compartments are warm and the machine is running continuously — Either the air path is blocked at the source or the system is no longer moving heat.
- No sound at all from inside the freezer with the door held open — The evaporator fan should run with the door switch pressed. Silence there, with the compressor plainly running, is a fan or a switch and both are reachable.
- A door that does not pull itself shut from half open — A seal that has taken a set, or a cabinet leaning back too little, leaves a gap small enough to see past and large enough to run the machine continuously.
- One shelf or one drawer is warm while the rest is fine — Air distribution rather than cooling capacity. A blocked vent, a drawer not seated or food packed against an outlet will all starve one part of the cabinet.
- NEAR MISS — the machine is silent and nothing is cold at all — No compressor sound, no fan, no light behaviour: that is a power, relay or control fault rather than the cooling path, and it is a different page from this one.
Causes, most likely first on the RTCF line
- Airflow blocked by frost on the evaporator — Ranked first here: defrost systems stall long before they fail outright, so ice builds quietly over weeks while the cabinet gives up a degree at a time, and by the time an owner notices the warmth the frost sheet is already the whole story. Nothing in the roster below splits these listings apart for this fault, so the order that follows holds across the whole label.
- Evaporator fan not running — Second here: it is the only part in the cold half of the machine that has to keep turning, and when it stops the cabinet keeps making cold and stops delivering any of it.
- Thermostat or temperature sensor reading wrongly — Third here: a sensor that reads colder than the cabinet actually is will satisfy the control early and leave the compartment warm, which looks like weak cooling and is really a measurement fault.
- Sealed-system or compressor fault — Last here: it is the least common of these and the only one that is not an owner fix at any stage; refrigerant work is licensed work and the tools to do it are not owner tools.
The order to work in
- Compare the two compartments before anything else — A hard-frozen freezer with a warm fresh-food side is an air-path fault. Both warm is a source fault.
- Hold the freezer door switch and listen for the fan — The evaporator fan should start when the switch is pressed. Silence with the compressor running separates a dead fan from a blocked coil without removing a single screw.
- Feel the condenser tubing for heat with the compressor running — Warm tubing means the compressor is pumping and the system has charge; tubing at room temperature while the compressor hums is the one reading that points at the sealed system.
Before any panel comes off
Safety
The machine stays plugged in for the listening and the looking. It comes off supply — plug out, or breaker off — before any cover is disturbed, because a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Treat the tubing at the back as the fragile part of the machine: it is thin-walled, it carries refrigerant, and a kink or a puncture ends the cabinet rather than the repair. Do not lever against it, do not rest the machine on it, and leave the door switches wired exactly as you found them..
Models in the RTCF family — This article generalizes over every listing above; where a page exists for one of these models it goes further than this one. Model numbers come from the platform data and are reproduced unchanged.

When this stops being an owner job
Call immediately if the condenser tubing stays at room temperature while the compressor is plainly running, or if there is oil anywhere on the tubing: that is a sealed-system diagnosis and it is not an owner repair at any stage. Judge urgency by the food rather than by the noise or the water: a refrigerator holds food safely at 40 °F (4 °C) or below, and a freezer at 0 °F (−18 °C) or below.
