The Artistry ADR refrigerator family covers two listings in the roster below, and on that platform the first split is whether both compartments are warm or only one. A refrigerator that runs but does not get cold is far more often an airflow problem than a refrigerant problem, and airflow problems are the cheap end of the repair. Keep food safe first and diagnose second: a refrigerator holds food safely at 40 °F (4 °C) or below and a freezer at 0 °F (−18 °C) or below.
What you observe
- The fresh-food compartment is warm while the freezer is still hard-frozen — Cold is being made but not delivered. On the great majority of cabinets both compartments are fed from one evaporator, so this is an air-path fault rather than a sealed-system one.
- Water pooling under the crisper drawers as well as a warm cabinet — Melt from a stalled defrost has to go somewhere. Water inside the cabinet alongside the warmth points firmly at the defrost path rather than at anything else on the list.
- One shelf or one drawer is warm while the rest is fine — Air distribution rather than cooling capacity. A blocked vent, a drawer not seated or food packed against an outlet will all starve one part of the cabinet.
- NEAR MISS — the freezer is too cold and the fridge is too warm — That pairing usually means the damper or the air split between compartments rather than a cooling failure, and it is worth ruling in before anything else is suspected.
Causes, most likely first on the ADR line
- Airflow blocked by frost on the evaporator — Ranked first here, because the coil ices in normal use and depends on a cycle running properly to clear it, so a cycle that is merely late rather than absent will close the air path over weeks without any warning. The wildcard tails on this roster are finish and trim, not mechanism, so a difference in what you see on the outside is not a reason to expect a different cause inside.
- Condenser coil blanketed with dust, or the condenser fan stopped — Second here, because the machine can only move heat as fast as it can dump it, so a coil under a felt of dust turns a healthy system into one that runs constantly and still loses ground on a warm day.
- Defrost heater, sensor or control no longer completing the cycle — Third here, because it sits behind the frost it causes: the frost is the symptom you can see, and which of the three parts failed is the part of the diagnosis that needs a meter and the panel off.
- Sealed-system or compressor fault — Last here, because nothing in it wears in normal use, and nothing in it can be worked on without gauges and a licence, which is why it ends the owner diagnosis.
Check in this order, and why
- Compare the two compartments before anything else — A hard-frozen freezer with a warm fresh-food side is an air-path fault. Both warm is a source fault.
- Check the door seals along their whole length — Close the door on a sheet of paper at several points and pull. Even resistance everywhere is a good seal; a point where the paper slides free is a gap running around the clock.
- Pull the machine out and look at the condenser — Dust on the coil and a condenser fan that is not turning are both visible from the back or through the lower grille, and both are owner-serviceable with the machine unplugged.

Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel; a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Do not run a machine that is tripping its breaker, and do not keep restarting a compressor that clicks and falls silent — both states put heat into a part that cannot use it. Keep perishables at 40 °F (4 °C) or below while the cabinet is down, and remember that refrigerant work is licensed work at every stage..

When this stops being an owner job
Call when two successive checks have come back clean, because a shortlist that survives that far is naming a part behind a panel rather than a condition an owner can correct. Anything that only costs comfort can wait for a convenient appointment. Anything that has the cabinet warming, or water on a floor that will not dry, should be looked at the same day.
