What you observe
- The mould is full of solid ice that never releases — Water arrived and froze but the harvest did not finish, which points at the ejector, the mould heater or the control rather than at anything to do with water.
- Water is in the bin or frozen on the freezer floor — The fill is overrunning or the fill tube is icing at the outlet, and both leave a pool that freezes into a sheet under the bin and makes the drawer hard to move.
- The arm or the paddle is sitting in the raised position — Almost every ice maker has an owner-operated shut-off. A wire arm knocked upward by a bag of frozen food stops production completely and looks exactly like a failure.
- NEAR MISS — the whole freezer is soft and the ice is only part of it — If frozen food is soft too, the cabinet is not holding temperature and the ice maker is a symptom.
Causes, most likely first on the ABE line
- Freezer not cold enough for a harvest to trigger — Ranked first here, because the assembly carries its own thermostat and waits for it, so a compartment that is perfectly adequate for frozen food can still be too warm to release a tray. This label covers one listing, so there is no variant to rule out first and the order below goes straight at the fault.

- Demand simply exceeding what the machine can make — Fourth here, because production is a tray at a time on a schedule of hours, so a household that empties the bin daily meets the design limit of the machine rather than a fault in it.
- Dispenser chute, flap or auger jammed with fused ice — Last here, because it is not an ice-making fault at all, but it presents as one and it is worth ruling out before the assembly is opened.
Check in this order, and why
- Read the bin before touching the machine — Empty and dry, full of one block, hollow cubes, or a sheet of ice under the bin — each of those four states points at a different half of the shortlist for free.
- Confirm the freezer is actually cold enough — Put a thermometer in the compartment and leave it. A freezer holds food safely at 0 °F (−18 °C) or below, and a compartment above that will not complete a harvest reliably.
- Trace the supply line for a kink or a shut valve — Pull the machine out and follow the line back to its valve. A line pinched behind the cabinet when it was last pushed into place is one of the most common finds here.
- Force a harvest and watch what the assembly does — With the machine running, a manual harvest shows whether the ejector turns, whether the mould heater releases the ice and whether the fill follows.

The auger motor in a dispenser assembly has real torque and no interlock you should rely on, so keep hands out of the chute while the machine is plugged in. Where the owner side ends
Call when the mould fills and the harvest never completes with the freezer proven cold, because the ejector, the mould heater and the module control all sit behind the same cover and need a meter to separate.
