The short answer for these models
A ARU refrigerator that has become noisy is usually still working correctly — the noise is a bearing, a blade touching ice, or a cabinet passing its own vibration into the floor. What you observe
- A rhythmic ticking or clicking from inside the freezer section — Usually a fan blade touching ice that has built up around it. It comes and goes as the ice grows and gets shaved back.
- A short buzz every few minutes with no cooling — A start device trying and failing. This one is not a noise complaint — it is a cooling fault making a noise, and it needs the cooling page.
- The noise changed after the cabinet was cleaned behind — Something was moved: the drain pan, the duct, or the machine itself now touching a wall or a pipe.
- A vibration you feel through the floor — The cabinet is transmitting normal compressor vibration into the structure, usually because a foot is not carrying its share.
- NEAR MISS — a hiss or a smell with the noise — Stop and isolate the cabinet. Anything that sounds like escaping gas or smells burnt is not an ordinary noise complaint.
Causes, most likely first on the ARU line

Check in this order, and why
- Time the noise against the cooling cycle — Constant, only while running, or only just after stopping — each points at a different group of causes.
- Check the freezer section for frost near the fan — A rhythmic tick with visible ice is the diagnosis complete.
- Clear the ice and run the cabinet for a day — If the noise returns with the ice, the defrost system is the subject and not the fan.
- Check the back for debris around the lower fan — Power off, torch, and turn the blade by hand to feel for roughness.
- Judge the compressor last and only with its mounts — A noisy compressor with normal cooling is usually a mounting complaint, not a compressor one.

Moving the cabinet to reach the back is a two-person job on the larger models in this family. When to call a technician
