The short answer

- Listen for the short buzz of the valve at the moment of fill — A harvest with no buzz and no water is the valve or its wiring; a buzz with no water is the screen or the supply.
- Check the bail arm is fully down, or wipe the optical windows clean — Anything resting against the arm, and any film across the eyes, is enough to stop production completely.
