What this usually is on these models
Noise on the TA line separates cleanly into sounds that follow the fan, sounds that follow the compressor and sounds that follow the cabinet. On a unit still in its first weeks, look for what the packaging left behind before anything else, and that split does most of the diagnosis.
What you observe
- Ticking in time with something turning — A hard, even tick with a fixed interval, which is the signature of a blade brushing something.
- The noise is far worse in one room than another — The same unit, the same load, a different surface and a different amount of background sound.
- Runs longer than it used to and is louder for it — The sound may be unchanged and simply present for more of the day.
- NEAR MISS - no noise at all and nothing is cold — A silent unit is a supply or a start fault, not a noise fault, and it belongs on the cooling page rather than here.
Ranked causes for these models
- Packing or a restraint left in place — The leading cause on these models: units ship with foam, card or a strap holding the machinery still, and those are routinely left in after the first unpacking. Once the compressor starts moving on its mounts it drums against whatever is still touching it.
- Loose fasteners, a cover or a grille — Second: the noise is usually intermittent, because the panel only buzzes at one point in the cycle when the frequency matches, and that intermittency is the clue.
- The cabinet not standing squarely — Third, and worth excluding before going further: a compact cabinet weighs little relative to the thump its compressor makes, so a corner that is not carrying weight lets the whole case rock at every start and stop. What the owner hears is a knock, and what is actually happening is the cabinet moving against the surface it stands on.
- A worn fan bearing — It ranks below everything free to check because replacing it means getting into the fan housing.
What to check first, second, third
- Look for anything still touching the machinery — Ask how long the noise has been there. From day one means packaging or stance; developing over months means a moving part.
- Rest a hand on each panel while it runs — Press a flat hand against each panel and the rear cover in turn. A noise that stops under your hand is a panel, and tightening or padding it is the repair.
- Press each corner in turn — Slide the unit a hand-width and listen again. A noise that changes with position is the stance or the surface, never the compressor.

Safety
Isolate the unit at the plug or the breaker before any cover comes off - a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Do not hold a panel against the case with a hand while the compressor runs; use packing and let go of it.

When to call a technician
Stop and call if the unit is also losing temperature, if a breaker trips, or if the noise remains with the cabinet empty, level, clear of the wall and with every panel pressed. At that point the cheap explanations are gone.
