- The door seal or the door glass — It is the only part of the water boundary that flexes on every cycle and takes the load hitting it, and a nick from a wire or a zip is enough to start a leak that only appears when the drum turns.

Isolate it first

Isolate the machine at its breaker, or draw the plug, before any panel is disturbed — a motor capacitor can hold stored charge well after the drum has come to rest. Shut both taps and let the drum empty through the pump filter before anything is unfastened, with cloths already down. Never reach for a plug while standing in water. The lid or door switch stays exactly as the factory wired it: it halts the drum whenever the machine is opened, and it is the one item on a washer nobody should work around. Anyone who feels a tingle from the cabinet or the taps should stop and leave the machine isolated.
The line between an owner check and a service call
Call a technician when the seal, the hoses, the filter cover and the drawer are proven and the leak continues, because what is left sits under the drum. Call at once for any leak that carries on with the machine switched off — that is supply-side and the taps should be closed immediately. A slow leak into a floor void or a room below costs far more than the repair ever will.
