Shorted oven sensor

A shorted sensor makes the board read extreme low temperature, causing it to apply maximum heat. Disconnect power before diagnosis to prevent overheating.
Disconnect power and access sensor wiring
Measure sensor resistance — a short reads near 0 ohms instead of ~1080 ohms
Inspect sensor wire routing through oven cavity wall for insulation damage from heat
Check for moisture intrusion at sensor connector causing corrosion bridge
Pro Diagnostic Tip
E4 (short) vs E3 (open) — if resistance is 0-50 ohms, it is a short (E4). If the sensor connector itself is clean and the sensor tests correctly when disconnected, the short is in the wiring harness between sensor and board, not the sensor itself.
