Uneven heating is the complaint this hub is built around, and its value is in ruling things out cheaply. A door gasket that no longer seals loses heat continuously, which looks like a weak element, so the gasket is checked before anything is replaced. Then comes the temperature sensor, whose drift produces the same result at a fraction of the cost of a bake element. On the cooktop the sequence is receptacle block, then heat switch, then element.
This range has no gas line, so the boundary is entirely electrical and sits in two places. The coil burner receptacle block carries 240 volts and often shows heat damage at the terminals, which is why it is replaced as a unit rather than cleaned up.
