Troubleshoot LG Oven Temperature Wrong

Measure, then decide#
Set a reliable thermometer in the center of the middle rack, run 350 degrees F, and wait 30 minutes past the preheat beep. The gap from 350 is your real offset and points you to calibration, the sensor, the element, or the fan. LG panels use Torx fasteners, so keep T15, T20, and T25 drivers and a multimeter ready.
What throws an LG oven off#
- Temperature-sensor drift (most common). LG's NTC sensor (MEA36701801) at the rear of the cavity drifts with thermal cycling and can read 20 to 50 degrees F off. At room temperature it should be about 1,080 to 1,100 ohms; well outside that, replace it.
- ProBake element imbalance. ProBake Convection moves the bake element to the rear wall, so if that element partially fails the bottom of the oven runs cool while the sensor still reads correctly — you feel it as a wrong temperature.
- Convection fan failure. The rear fan (EAU62983003) spreads the heat; when it quits, the area near the element runs hot and the far side cold.
- Calibration offset. LG lets you trim up to plus or minus 35 degrees in 5-degree increments in Settings; factory calibration varies unit to unit.

Calibrating and testing#
Open Settings (on some models hold Settings/Clock for 3 seconds), go to Temperature Calibration, and adjust by the offset you measured. To check the sensor, disconnect it at the rear and measure resistance — about 1,080 to 1,100 ohms at room temperature (72 degrees F), rising to roughly 1,900 to 1,920 ohms at 350 degrees F. If a code shows, note it — F1, F3, and F9 are the ones commonly seen. The parts most often replaced are the sensor (MEA36701801), the ProBake element (MEE63084901), the convection fan motor (EAU62983003), and the control board (EBR86433605).

Remember ProBake is by design — with the element on the rear wall, food browns a little differently than in a bottom-element oven, which isn't a fault.
