• CPSC recalls never expire. Even if this recall was announced years ago, you can still get the free repair if your unit was never serviced.

What Is the Risk?#

The oven temperature sensor can provide inaccurate readings, causing the gas oven to heat 100-200 degrees F beyond the set temperature. This creates a burn risk from unexpectedly hot food and a fire risk from oven temperature exceeding 550 degrees F during normal baking. LG received 19 reports of overheating.

While this issue may not require you to stop using the appliance immediately, you should register for the free remedy promptly to prevent the defect from worsening or causing secondary damage.

How do I know if my oven is overheating?#

Place an oven-safe thermometer in the center of the oven, set the oven to 350 degrees F, and wait 20 minutes. The thermometer should read within 25 degrees of the set temperature. Anything over 50 degrees higher is abnormal. Burned food, faster-than-expected cooking times, and smoking from the oven are also signs of overheating.
