BLDC Motor Speed Sensing
On Electrolux BLDC (brushless DC) direct-drive motors, speed sensing is integrated into the electronic commutation system. The inverter board knows motor speed from the back-EMF patterns of the motor windings, eliminating the need for a separate tachometer magnet. E52 on a BLDC model means the inverter board's speed-sensing algorithm lost lock on the motor's electrical rotation.
On brush-type Electrolux motors, E52 works like Frigidaire: a separate tachometer magnet and pickup coil. Test the coil (50-200 ohms expected).

Causes (BLDC)
Inverter board signal processing failure. The speed-sensing algorithm runs on the inverter board's processor. A failed processor or corrupted firmware produces E52.
Motor winding asymmetry. If one phase winding develops higher resistance than the others (partial short or connection issue), the back-EMF pattern becomes asymmetric and the algorithm loses speed lock.
Causes (Brush-type)
Tachometer magnet detached or cracked. Same as Frigidaire.
Pickup coil open. Measure resistance: 50-200 ohms.
Worn brushes. Intermittent commutator contact produces erratic speed signals.
