Electrolux Washer E40: Door Not Closed
Electrolux Door Detection
Premium Electrolux washers use a hall-effect sensor in addition to the mechanical door switch for position verification. The hall sensor detects the door magnet proximity, providing continuous position data rather than simple open/closed binary. E40 fires when either the mechanical switch or the hall sensor does not detect proper door closure.

Common Causes
Door not fully pushed closed (most common). Sagging hinge preventing full engagement. Foreign object in the door seal preventing closure. Failed hall-effect sensor on premium models.
Diagnosis
- Open the door and inspect the seal area for trapped items.
- Close the door firmly. Listen for the latch click.
- If the latch clicks but E40 persists, the lock switch or hall sensor has failed.
- Check door hinge for sagging. A sagging door does not align the latch with the lock assembly.
