Electrolux Gas Stove Keeps Clicking: Causes & Fix
An Electrolux burner that clicks and clicks — lit, or with every knob off — is nearly always moisture on one spark electrode after a boil-over or a wet cleaning. The fix is to find which burner is firing, pull its cap, dry it out, and clear any food bridging the electrode. If it keeps clicking bone-dry, a stuck…
First, find the clicking burner#
With everything off, listen close — the click is loudest right over the burner whose electrode is firing. Pinning it to one burner focuses the whole job, because the fix is almost always local to that spot rather than a whole-range fault.
Dry it out (the usual cause)#
Water on the ceramic electrode shorts it and triggers the spark over and over. Lift that burner's cap and head, blot every drop, and dry the area — a fan or a cool hair dryer speeds it up. Trapped moisture can take an hour or two to fully clear, so hold off cooking on it until the clicking stops.

Clear food off the electrode#
Carbonized spatter around the electrode conducts like water, bridging the gap and firing the spark. Wipe the electrode and its base with a dry cloth and lift off any baked-on food with a non-metal brush so nothing spans the gap.
When it stays dry and still clicks#
Each knob has a small switch that fires the spark at "light." Grease, wear, or a tired spring can hold it closed so the spark never quits; flicking that knob between light and off a few times sometimes frees it, and if not the switch is replaced. If drying and cleaning change nothing across the board, the spark module — the one part feeding every igniter — may be internally shorted.
Safety First — Know the Risks
Appliances involve high voltage (120-240V), pressurized water, gas lines, and chemical refrigerants. Over 400 DIY repair injuries are reported yearly. Our techs are licensed and insured — let them handle the risk.

Silence it right now#
Need it to stop immediately? Cut the breaker or unplug the range; the clicking ends at once and you can still light burners by hand with a long lighter. If it returns once power is back and the burner is dry, the switch or module needs replacing.
Before the holidays#
Non-stop clicking through a busy holiday kitchen is maddening, and the constant sparking quietly wears the module. Clear it now with a thorough dry-out and cleaning of the offending burner; if it persists, book a visit to replace the switch or spark module before the season.
