Amana Dryer Error Codes — Complete Error Code Diagnosis Guide

Eight Amana dryer codes are covered, and half of them are really about heat and the air that carries it. AF is an airflow restriction — lint screen, blocked vent, kinked hose. F3E1 and F3E2 are the same exhaust thermistor read two ways, open and shorted. F4E1 is the heater circuit itself: an open element, a failed relay, or a thermal cutoff that blocked airflow already tripped. The rest are electrical: F1 for the main control board, F2E1 for a stuck key, and L2 and PF for a dryer that lost one leg of its 240-volt supply or the whole cycle to an outage.

Reading these in order matters more on a dryer than on most machines, because one fault manufactures another. A restricted vent overheats the cabinet, the thermal cutoff opens to protect it, and what the display then shows is a heater fault — so the guides put the vent and lint path first even when the code accuses a part. AF is treated as the diagnostic that comes free. L2 and PF both point outward, at a breaker with one released pole or a loose lug on the terminal block, before anything inside the cabinet is opened.

This is where a dryer stops being a homeowner appliance. A gas model puts a supply line, a valve and an igniter behind the same panel as the blower; an electric one runs 240 volts to the element and the terminal block.
