The procedure, step by step#
1. Pull the plug and wait. Disconnect the unit from the wall and give it at least 5 minutes. Waiting alone is not safety, though — the high-voltage capacitor can hold a lethal charge for hours after unplugging, and it MUST be manually discharged before you touch anything inside.
2. Take off the outer wrapper. Back out the 6-10 Phillips #2 screws along the rear panel and both sides, then slide the shell straight back. That single move exposes the magnetron, capacitor, transformer, fan motor, control board, and the door-switch assembly.
3. Discharge the capacitor — never skip this. Find the large cylindrical can and lay an insulated screwdriver blade across both terminals at the same time. A spark and a pop are normal; that is the charge leaving. Then set your multimeter to DC volts and confirm zero across the terminals before your hands go near the circuit.
4. Locate the failed part. Samsung keeps the layout logical: the magnetron and its high-voltage neighbors (diode, capacitor, transformer) live on the right, the control board and touchpad up front, the door switches in the latch housing, and the fan motor in the upper rear.
5. Swap the component. Photograph the wiring first. Unplug the connectors, remove the Phillips #2 mounting screws, and seat the new part in the same orientation. Return every wire to its correct terminal and check that nothing is pinched against the cabinet or resting on a high-voltage lead.
