Frigidaire Gas Stove Uneven Flame — Causes & Fix
An uneven or yellow flame on a Frigidaire gas stove almost always means the burner ports are clogged, the cap is sitting tilted, or the air-to-gas mix is off. A healthy burner shows steady blue flames with small yellow tips; clean the burner cap, head, and ports with a pin and reseat the cap flat, and if the flames…
Clogged ports come first#
Frigidaire gas ranges, including the Gallery and Professional lines, run on the Electrolux gas platform, and on all of them the number-one cause of an uneven flame is food and grease plugging individual burner ports. Blocked ports leave tall flames at some holes and nothing at others. Lift off the cap and head, soak them in warm soapy water, and clear each port with a straight pin — never a wooden toothpick, which can break off and jam a hole.
Reseat the cap flat#
A cap that is not centered on the head sends gas to one side, so one edge of the burner flares while the other barely lights. This is a common result of a careless replacement after cleaning. Lift the cap, set it squarely, and spin it — it should turn without wobble when it is seated correctly.

Yellow flames mean the air mix#
A blue flame that turns lazy yellow or orange is short of air. The air shutter, a sliding collar on the burner tube, sets how much air mixes with the gas before it burns; too little gives sooty yellow flames, too much gives noisy flames that lift and threaten to blow out. Reach the shutter after removing the surface grate and cooktop, loosen its screw, and slide it until the flame is blue with small yellow tips.
Orifice and pressure#
If a Frigidaire range was converted between natural gas and propane and a burner's orifice was not changed to match, that burner will burn wrong. Confirm every orifice suits your gas type. And if all burners are weak together, the supply may be low — check that the shutoff valve is fully open and the flexible connector is not kinked.

Clean flames before the cooking season#
Because yellow flames waste gas, heat unevenly, and can produce carbon monoxide, it is worth restoring a clean blue flame before the heavy cooking weeks arrive. A port cleaning and cap reseat fixes most cases at home. For a stubborn air-shutter or orifice adjustment, or persistent sooty flames, book an EasyBear technician and we will bring Frigidaire burner parts and a pressure gauge.
