Frigidaire Dishwasher Control Board Replacement

The logic board lives at the top of the inner door, so reaching it means splitting the door panels rather than pulling the machine out.

Know your Frigidaire model prefix#

• FFID — Standard Frigidaire. LED status lights, a mechanical relay board on older units, an electronic board from about 2015 on.
• FGID — Frigidaire Gallery. OrbitClean arm, capacitive touch panel, DishSense soil sensor, and a separate UI board alongside the main logic board.
• FPID — Frigidaire Professional. Gallery's electronics with a stainless interior and commercial-rated parts.

A Gallery board for FGID2466QF frequently cross-references to Electrolux EI24ID50QS — the Electrolux-labeled version often ships faster and typically costs 10–20% less.

Symptoms that point at the board#

• A PF code that survives a power cycle — corrupted non-volatile memory, not a passing glitch.
• i20 or i40 with a clear drain path — the pump runs on direct 120V, so a dead drain relay or burned trace on the board is the fault.
• ER codes when the sensors check out — the board's analog-to-digital section has drifted and reads good sensors as out-of-range.
• Touch buttons firing the wrong cycle (Gallery) — with a good ribbon cable, the UI board or main board has failed.
• Relays clicking but nothing runs — contacts welded from arcing, common past 8 years.
• An LED blink pattern that matches no published code — firmware corruption; there's no field reflash, so the board is replaced.

Replacing the board#

1. Cut power at the breaker — most Frigidaire dishwashers are hardwired, so confirm zero voltage at the junction box with a non-contact tester.
2. Open the door and remove the 10 Torx T15 screws around the inner door liner.
3. Bring the door to about 45 degrees and take out the 2 screws at the top of the outer panel.
4. Separate the panels; the board sits at the top of the inner door behind the interface strip. On Gallery units the touch overlay stays with the outer panel.
5. Photograph the 4–6 Molex connectors — they're keyed, but a similar plug can be forced into the wrong port.
6. Release the board (2–4 screws or snap clips) and fit the new one, matching your photos. On Gallery models, seat the ribbon cable in its flip-up ZIF latch.
7. Rebuild the door, making sure the perimeter gasket reseats — a bunched gasket leaks at the bottom corners.
8. Restore power and run the self-test: press Start/Cancel three times within 5 seconds, then Start.

The built-in self-test#

The diagnostic runs about 12 minutes and steps through fill valve, wash motor, drain pump, and heater in order. All four stages completing without an error means the swap took; a code during the test points to a second failed component. The factory service sheet — wiring diagram plus the model's code table — is taped behind the toe plate at the bottom front.

Parts and cost#

On Gallery models with two boards, confirm which failed before buying: if the UI backlight still lights, the interface board is probably fine and the main logic board is the problem.

Making a board last#

Boards run about 8–12 years, and Gallery's busier electronics can fade at 6–10. The two big killers are power surges and steam. Add a surge protector to the circuit, and inspect the door vent seal yearly — if it deteriorates, drying steam reaches the board and corrodes solder joints. Running the self-test once a year flags a weakening component before it takes the board with it.
