Whirlpool Dryer Error Codes — Complete Error Code Diagnosis Guide

Eleven Whirlpool dryer codes are covered, and three of them are sensors in three different places: F3E1 is the exhaust thermistor at the outlet, F3E3 is the inlet thermistor at the heater plenum, and F3E2 is the moisture sensor bar inside the drum. AF reports restricted airflow. F4E1 is the heating element relay and F4E3 the gas valve relay on gas models. F1E1 is the main control, F2E1 a stuck key, F6E1 a console-to-board communication error, and L2 and PF describe the 240-volt feed losing a leg or the cycle losing power.

Three sensors mean three different stories about the same cycle, and the guides keep them apart: an outlet thermistor cooked open by a restricted vent, an inlet sensor damaged by heat at the plenum, and moisture bars insulated by fabric-softener film that leave the board convinced the load is already dry. Only the last is a cleaning job, and it is the most common of the three. AF is treated as duct work first, since a restriction is what cooks the outlet sensor in the first place.

F4E3 is the gas boundary stated plainly: valve solenoid coils that no longer hold the valve open, or an igniter drawing out of spec so the relay never sees a valid light sequence, are conditions to hand over rather than reset. L2 points into the wall — a half-tripped breaker, a backed-off lug, a heat-fatigued cord. An electric machine still runs 240 volts to the element.
