Electrolux Dishwasher PF: Power Failure During Cycle
What PF Means
PF appears after the Electrolux dishwasher loses power during an active cycle and then regains it. Unlike most error codes that indicate component failure, PF is an informational code telling you the cycle was interrupted by a power event. The dishwasher detected that its real-time clock jumped, confirming an outage rather than a board reset.

Common Causes
Momentary power interruption. Brief outages (even one second) during a cycle trigger PF on power restoration.
Loose plug or outlet. The dishwasher plug in the outlet or the hardwired junction box connection has a marginal contact that briefly opens under vibration (from the wash motor) and reconnects.
Tripped breaker. The dishwasher shares a circuit with another appliance that tripped the breaker momentarily.
GFCI trip. If the dishwasher is on a GFCI-protected circuit (common in kitchen remodels), normal moisture or a minor ground fault can trip the GFCI briefly.
How to Clear PF
Press Cancel/Drain once. PF clears and the dishwasher returns to standby. Start a new cycle. If PF does not recur, the outage was a one-time event.
Safety First — Know the Risks
Live 120V wiring in a wet environment is one of the most dangerous DIY scenarios. Water + electricity = serious shock risk. Our techs are licensed and insured — let them handle the risk.

When PF Recurs
If PF appears repeatedly without known power outages:
- Check the outlet or junction box connection. Tighten all wire nuts and ensure the plug seats firmly.
- Verify the circuit breaker is properly seated in the panel (push it firmly to the off position, then back to on).
- If on GFCI, the GFCI may be failing. GFCI outlets have a 10-year lifespan. Replace aging GFCI outlets.
- Check for appliance overlap on the circuit. The dishwasher should ideally be on a dedicated 15A or 20A circuit.

Electrolux Power Management
Electrolux dishwashers include a power-resume feature on some models: if PF occurs during the wash or rinse phase, pressing Start resumes the interrupted cycle from the point of interruption rather than restarting from the beginning. This saves water and energy.
FAQ
Is PF a sign of a dishwasher problem? Usually no. PF reflects an external power event. If the power supply is stable and PF recurs, check the outlet connection and circuit breaker.
Can PF damage the dishwasher? A single PF event causes no damage. Repeated power cycling (frequent outages) can stress the control board's power supply capacitors over time.
PF appears every time I run the microwave. Related? The microwave likely shares the circuit and draws enough current to trip the breaker momentarily. Install the dishwasher on a dedicated circuit.
Electrolux dishwasher PF usually means a power supply issue, not a dishwasher problem. If PF recurs, our technicians check the electrical connection. Book if needed.
