Kill the breaker before any internal work — electric ovens run on 240 volts, a lethal shock hazard, and a self-clean cavity passes 800 degrees. Let it cool fully, never bypass a thermal fuse or high-limit, and on a gas model, leave and call the gas company if you smell gas strongly.

Sensor (start here): with the oven cold and unplugged, unclip the sensor at the back wall and measure across its leads — about 1080 ohms at room temperature is right, while open, near-zero, or a wildly off reading confirms failure. A drifted sensor makes the oven run cool even with a good element, and F3E1 or F3E2 pins it.
Element and igniter: on an electric oven, set Bake at 350 and watch the bottom element after five minutes — it should glow uniformly, and dark spots or no glow with an infinite resistance reading (a good element reads roughly 20 to 50 ohms) means replace it. On a gas oven, the flat igniter should reach bright orange-white and open the valve within about 60 seconds; if it only glows dim orange past 90 seconds, it has weakened below the current threshold and won't let gas flow — the classic glow-but-no-flame.
Board, lock, and fuse: several unrelated functions failing together, or F1-series codes, point at the control board. An F5E1 or a door stuck from self-clean is the lock circuit. And a total loss of heat with everything else working can be a blown thermal fuse or tripped high-limit — test them for continuity, but always find the overheating cause (usually a restricted vent) so it doesn't blow again.
