GE Washing Machine Repair by Symptom: Causes

GE washers reward a symptom-first approach that respects how the brand is built. On top-loaders the equivalent is the lid switch: the washer fills but will not agitate or spin and seems dead with the lid closed, so flip the console up, reach the switch under the top panel near the hinge, test continuity with the lid closed, and replace it if open. Symptom: Washer Shakes, Walks, or Bangs#

Violent shaking, walking, or wall-banging during spin on a front-loader usually means worn shock absorbers (WH01X27538) between the outer tub and base frame; when they wear, the tub swings free and hits the cabinet. Test by pressing down on the tub through the door and releasing — it should settle to center in one oscillation, and multiple bounces mean worn shocks, replaced in pairs.
