The power cord terminal block connection can overheat due to a loose terminal screw, causing the wiring insulation to melt and potentially igniting surrounding materials. GE received 42 reports of overheating and 7 reports of fire at the terminal block.

The terminal block is where the power cord connects to the dryer — usually a small white or black block with three or four brass screws.
