Why i30 Is a Dual-Trigger Code
Code i30 fires from two entirely separate conditions that the board reports identically. Either the drain cycle exceeded its maximum extended runtime and water remains in the tub, OR the anti-flood float switch in the base pan activated because water accumulated beneath the dishwasher. Diagnosis requires checking both systems.
This dual nature is specific to the Frigidaire/Electrolux i-series platform. Codes i20 and i30 share the drain timeout pathway, but only i30 includes the flood detection pathway.
Step 1: Check the Base Pan
Remove the kick plate. Shine a flashlight underneath. Standing water in the stamped-metal base pan means a leak is triggering the float switch, producing i30 regardless of whether the drain works.
If the pan is dry, skip to drain diagnosis.
If wet: The leak sources match those for ER1: pump seal (154724801), door gasket corners (154827601), inlet connection drip, or Gallery OrbitClean hub seal. Dry the pan, run a short cycle with the kick plate removed, and watch for drips during each phase to identify the source.
Safety First — Know the Risks
Live 120V wiring in a wet environment is one of the most dangerous DIY scenarios. Water + electricity = serious shock risk. Our techs are licensed and insured — let them handle the risk.

Step 2: Drain Diagnosis (Pan Is Dry)
If the pan is dry, the blockage is severe enough that even the extended drain timeout failed.
- Check the garbage disposal connection. Run the disposal. Verify knockout plug removal on newer installations.
- Disconnect the drain hose at the sink and blow through it. A fully blocked hose from compacted grease is the most common i30-only cause.
- Clean the sump filter assembly.
- If external paths are clear, the pump impeller may be partially jammed by a foreign object.
Stuck-Open Inlet Valve
If the inlet solenoid sticks open (807131901), water continues filling past the board's close command. The tub overfills, spills into the base pan, and the float triggers i30.
Test: With the breaker pulled, turn on the supply valve and listen. Running water with the breaker off means the valve is stuck open. Close the supply valve immediately.
The Real Cost of DIY
Average DIY attempt: $150-400 in tools you may use once, plus the risk of further damage. Our diagnostic visit costs $0 — we find the problem and give you an honest quote.

Stored Error History
Enter diagnostic mode: with the door latched, press High Temp Dry and Start alternately three times within five seconds. The display sequences through stored codes. If i20 appears before i30, the cause is drain-related. If i30 appears alone, suspect the float switch (a leak).

Pump Replacement
When the pump cannot move adequate water: pull breaker, close supply, remove kick plate, disconnect drain hose and electrical connector, rotate pump counterclockwise (bayonet) or remove screws, install new pump with fresh gasket, verify with Cancel/Drain.
Don't Void Your Warranty
Opening your appliance yourself may void the manufacturer warranty. Our repair comes with a 90-day guarantee, and we document everything for warranty compliance.

Prevention
Clean the filter basket every two weeks. Inspect the door gasket quarterly for flat spots at the lower corners. Run hot water at the faucet for 30 seconds before starting the dishwasher.
FAQ
Is i30 a flooding emergency? Not typically. The float triggers at three-eighths of an inch in the pan, well before water reaches your floor.
Can I reset the float switch manually? The float resets automatically when the pan is dry. Dry the pan, power cycle, and if the leak is fixed, i30 stays cleared.
Both i20 and i30 appear in error history. What does that confirm? A drain restriction that exceeded both timeout stages. Focus on the drain hose, filter, and pump rather than looking for a leak.
